Los Angeles, known as "L.A." or the "City of Angels", is the most populous city in the state of California and the second-most in the United States. the city is a leading producer of popular entertainment—such as motion pictures, television, and recorded music—which forms the base of its international fame and global status. Los Angeles is one of the world's most important centers of culture, science, technology, international trade, and higher education. Los Angeles could also be termed the city that never sleeps with its incredibly active nightlife.

Shopping is the top attraction of the Los Angeles area, with such massive shopping opportunities as the three-story Beverly Center. Visitors can also shop on famed Rodeo Drive, known for its posh shops and celebrity sightings. The main Los Angeles airport is Los Angeles International Airport. Los Angeles is widely referred to as the entertainment capital of the world. Television and film production are the most famous entertainment industries in Los Angeles. Because the city is the center of the film industry, movie theaters also abound in the metro area, with the most famous being Grauman's Chinese Theatre, which hosts many film premieres, and the El Capitan Theatre.
